Sundays Crew runs first fire of the year in our first due Monday February 14th, 2011

At 1534 hours sunday afternoon company 8 along with many other units were dipatched to 8509 Stokley Drive for a reported garage that was on fire. Upon arrival units found a detached two car garage fully involved. E508's Crew quickly pulled an inch and three quarter hand line to side A of the garage while E509's crew pulled the 300 off of the rear of E508 and advanced it to side charlie to help with exposures and extinguishment. Chief 508 Arrived on the scene to assume Stokley command, BC501Y arrived on the scene to establish div A and E501 arrived shortly after the chiefs and took the 3rd due assigmnent of R.I.T. E511, E516, T501 and T511 also assisted with extinguishing and some salvage operations. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down units started to clear. E508 and E501 remained on the scene to assist with the FM's investigation until they had concluded. Units still on the scene then reracked the hose line and cleared. All units worked well together and did an awesome job getting a knock on the fire.

ENGINE COMPANY SECOND IN AT MANASSAS PARK HOUSE FIRESaturday February 26th, 2011

As the volunteers were laying in bed, bells rang early in the morning for a house fire in the 100 block of Holden Dr. Company 508's second due. Engine 508 was quick to hit the streets and met with Engine 509 at Denver Dr. and Holden Dr. Engine 508 respectfully let Engine 509 in first seeing how it was their first due. Engine 509 hit a plug at the intersection of Denver Dr. and Holden Dr and laid a line in to the house where they arrived to find a two story single family home with heavy fire from the number two floor. Engine 508 picked up Engine 509's line. Engine 509 pulled the initial attack line with Engine 508 quick to put a second line in service. Engine 501 arrived third due and assumed RIT operations. Engine 511 arrived 4th and pulled a third line to the rear of the house. Truck 511 and Truck 501 started to work throwing ground ladders to all sides of the house and opening up. Battalion Chief 501 (Assitant Chief Wood) had Holden Dr. Command. Units operated on the fire ground for a couple hours and were released by command a short time later. Good Job to all units operating on the scene.

R508 assists with extricationThursday February 24th, 2011

On February 24, 2011 during career hours, Rescue 508 was dispatched to Manassas Park to assist with extricating the driver of a car that had collided with a tractor trailer at Manassas Dr and Railroad Dr. Once on the scene, R508 was tasked with removing the left rear door as well as the “B” post to give the Medics easier access to remove the driver. The passenger was taken by the medic unit and the driver who was conscious and alert had to be flown by Aircare 1.
